NATURAL THERAPIES

* The Equine Touch *

What is The Equine Touch?

The Equine Touch is defined as a gentle non-invasive, non-diagnostic muscle relaxation "discipline" designed to work at a holistic level.  It addresses the equine as a whole without paying any particular attention to any named problem as such.

It is not a therapy although it has been proven to have strong therapeutic effect upon a multitude of equine problems.  The non-invasive procedures rebalance the body fom the cellular to the whole in an effort to achieve the ideal state of homeostasis where it can address any problems on various levels.

The Equine Touch consists of a series of gentle moves performed over specific points on the body in predetermined patterns interspersed with resting periods to allow the equine to recognize and process the effects of these subtle moves.

The Equine Touch can stand alone as a healing modality but can also work extremely well in supportive conjunction with a number of other modalities including:

 - Allopathic medicine

 - Acupuncture

 - Kinesiology

 - Homeopathy

 - Reiki

 - Chiropractic

 - Dentistry

 - Hoof trimming and shoeing

This list is not exhaustive, although Equine Touch does not work with Equine massage as this interrupts the flow of energy.

The Equine Touch move was developed by Jock Ruddock and there has been a growth in interest by horse owners and professional people alike. To become an Equine Touch practitioner takes two years of training and then submitting case studies and a final exam. To remain registered a practitioner has to undergo complusory training days each year and also to keep current with the Equine Touch movement which Jock and his wife Ivana, a Veterinary Surgeon, are constantly researching and updating.

A practitioner has to have insurance and be a member of the Equine Touch Foundation.

There is a list of practitioners on the Equine Touchwebsite, which provides you with contact details of practitioners in your area.
