Hauxwell Miniature Shetland Ponies 

A small family owned Registered Stud, we specialise in breeding broken coloured ponies, although we do have some beautiful solid colour ponies too!

Our herd is small and very select in comparison to some of the larger run breeding establishments, this affords us the opportunity to have regular daily interactions and playtimes with the ponies and attend to their needs!

At present we have ten happy little herd members who share our lives....mares, geldings and youngsters, who all run together... naturally of course!  All our foals have been allowed to wean naturally too, we believe that Mum is the best judge of this process, without human interception and the isolating of foals which can cause such distress and anxiety to both mother and baby and other herd members and as we are in no hurry to part with our ponies....we allow her to express her wishes and when she has had enough of nursing, she will let baby know the score on her terms! This has proved to be a really successful way for weaning to take place and because of it, our foals are confident, secure and well adjusted in their outlook on life.

Its a real privilege and joy to just hang out with these amazing little ponies - observing the herd in their hierarchy status and the interactions among the group, the huge playdrive and curiosity they have is a plethora of Horse behaviour to learn from and with. We have group study days to observe and take notes of herd behaviour, which is invaluable for anyone studying Natural Horsemanship.

Our ponies are Parelli developing, the program is tailor made for these little guys!...they know it all anyway and are never wrong!... its the Human counterpart that has to keep up!
